India is set to face New Zealand after securing a victory over Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday. Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 100 guided India to a six-wicket win in the Group A encounter against their arch-rivals.
India and New Zealand have faced each other only once in ICC Champions Trophy history. Their sole encounter took place in the final of the 2000 edition at the Gymkhana Club Ground in Nairobi.
Batting first, India posted a competitive total of 264/6 in 50 overs, driven by captain Sourav Ganguly’s brilliant 117 off 130 deliveries. In reply, New Zealand successfully chased the target, with Chris Cairns anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 102 off 113 balls. The victory secured New Zealand’s first-ever ICC title.
India will face New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 2, with the match scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM.
