The Delhi Capitals’ owners are set to unveil the franchise’s new captain for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season today. As per an official post by the team on Thursday, the announcement will take place at 9:30 AM IST.

Indian all-rounder Axar Patel is currently the frontrunner to take over the leadership role. The 31-year-old from Gujarat was retained by DC for ₹18 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Axar served as Delhi Capitals’ vice-captain in IPL 2024 and even had an opportunity to lead the team in one match last season.
