DC vs GT: Mohit Sharma Records Costliest Spell in IPL History

Gujarat Titans (GT) bowler Mohit Sharma on Wednesday registered the poorest performance ever seen in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In the recent game against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Mohit Sharma endured a tough outing, conceding 73 runs in his four overs. His final over was particularly challenging, as he gave away 31 runs, marking one of the most challenging spells in IPL history.

In the match, Delhi Capitals’ captain Rishabh Pant and batter Tristan Stubbs dealt a heavy blow to Mohit in the final over, scoring 31 runs. As a result, Mohit ended his spell with figures of 4 overs, conceding 73 runs without taking any wickets. This performance ties him with Basil Thampi as only the second bowler to hold this unwanted record in IPL history.

Thampi endured this unwanted feat during his time with Sunrisers Hyderabad, giving away 70 runs in four overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) back in 2018. Speaking of the recent match, Rishabh Pant’s explosive batting, along with Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs’ aggressive play, propelled Delhi Capitals (DC) to a formidable total of 224/4 against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their IPL 2024 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Axar’s impactful innings of 66 runs from 43 balls, combined with Pant’s aggressive 88 off 43 deliveries and Tristan Stubbs’ quickfire cameo of 26 runs from just 7 balls, played a crucial role in Delhi Capitals’ recovery after the early setbacks.
