Committee announced for National Sports Awards 2020

A committee has been constituted by the sports ministry to select this year’s National Sports Awards winners. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and hockey legend Sardar Singh are also included in the 12-member committee. The Selection Committee will pick awardees for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Dronacharya Awards, Arjuna Awards, Dhyan Chand Awards, Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar Award and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy for the year 2020.

This year’s selection committee will be headed by Retired Justice of Supreme Court Justice Mukundakam Sharma. The members of the committee include eminent names from the field of Indian Sports including former India cricketer Virender Sehwag, former Indian Team Hockey Captain Sardar Singh, former table tennis player Monalisa Baruah Mehta, Paralympic silver-medallist Deepa Malik, boxer Venkatesan Devaraja, the sports commentator Manish Batavia, and journalists Alok Sinha, and Neeru Bhatia.
