Champions Trophy Logo Controversy : Pakistan’s Name Missing from IND vs BAN Live Broadcast

After Pakistan’s name was missing from the live broadcast of India’s match against Bangladesh, a new controversy has emerged following the Champions Trophy 2025 branding. Reportedly, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has turned to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for clarification on the subject.

Though Pakistan, one of the host countries, was not mentioned, the Champions Trophy 2025 logo showed at the top left corner of the telecast during the Dubai Thursday India vs Bangladesh game.

Logo Shown Right in Other Games

Pakistan’s name was seen under the tournament’s emblem during other games—Wednesday’s opener of Pakistan vs. New Zealand and South Africa vs. Afghanistan on Friday, for example—that were rather interesting. This discrepancy has generated rumors and opened inquiries on the absence.

ICC Characteristics Technical Error Leading Absence

The ICC have rejected allegations of deliberate exclusion and said the name was absent because a software error occurred, ESPN Cricinfo reports. The governing body has guaranteed that Pakistan’s name will be properly shown during the live broadcast of all future games, whether played in Pakistan or the UAE.

PCBs is discontent with pre-prepared graphics.

Still, the PCB is not happy with this rationale since live match graphics are generally produced ahead. The board is unsure how Pakistan’s name was accurately shown in the tournament opener but vanished during the match against India and Bangladesh.

India Competes in UAE, but Pakistan Hosts the Tournament

Pakistan remains the official host of the Champions Trophy 2025, but due to security concerns, India has opted to play all its matches in Dubai. As a result, the ICC introduced a hybrid model, ensuring that:

  • India plays at a neutral venue (Dubai), including the semi-finals and final, if they qualify.
  • Pakistan is not required to travel to India for any ICC events until 2027, playing its matches at neutral locations when necessary.

Sunday India vs Pakistan confrontation scheduled

Amid the ongoing controversy, Indian and Pakistan will meet in a tightly awaited Champions Trophy 2025 game on Sunday in Dubai. The game is likely to generate a lot of buzz both for its off-field tensions related to the competition and its on-field play.
