Indian cricketers will not be allowed to bring their wives or families to Dubai for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, in line with the strict guidelines implemented by the BCCI last month following India’s 1-3 defeat to Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The BCCI had introduced a 10-point directive after the series loss, and the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy will be the first tournament where these rules take effect.
As per the travel policy, players’ families are only permitted to join them for up to two weeks on tours lasting 45 days or more. Since the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled from February 19 to March 9, spans just 19 days, the restriction applies.
“If anything changes then it is different but as of now, the players are unlikely to be accompanied by their wives or partners for this tour. One of the senior players had enquired about it and he was told that the policy decision will be followed,” a senior BCCI source told PTI.
The source further stated, “Since the tour is of less than one month, families won’t be accompanying the players. But if exceptions are made, I think that individual will have to bear the full expenses as BCCI won’t be covering any cost.”
Champions Trophy 2025 schedule
The Indian team is set to depart for Dubai on February 15, where they will kick off their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. Their highly anticipated clash against arch-rivals Pakistan is scheduled for February 23, followed by their final group-stage match against New Zealand on March 2. Led by Rohit Sharma, the Indian squad will play all their matches in Dubai, while the rest of the tournament, beginning on February 19, will take place across three venues in Pakistan.
Families to Indian players during England tour
Families will be allowed to accompany the team during the five-Test tour of England in June, July, and August, with the specific two-week window for their stay to be determined later.
