Bengaluru Rain Sparks Viral Attention For M Chinnaswamy Stadium’s Impressive Drainage System

Team India secured a swift victory within two days against Bangladesh in the final Test of the series held in Kanpur. The match was marred by rain and a poor drainage system at Green Park Stadium, causing frustration for both fans and players. As India gears up to face New Zealand at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the first day of play was disappointing, with rain washing out the initial session. However, unlike the situation in Kanpur, the excellent drainage system at Chinnaswamy raises fans’ hopes.

Chinnaswamy’s outfield is not a concern for either team or officials, as the venue’s SubAir system can drain approximately 10,000 liters of water per minute. The match can resume about 60 minutes after the rain ceases.

As discussions about Chinnaswamy’s drainage system gained traction on social media, fans circulated an impressive video demonstrating its effectiveness.

In the opening Test between India and New Zealand, the toss scheduled for 9 AM could not be conducted due to persistent rain in the city from the morning. Despite the weather, a few spectators were present at the stadium.

The only highlight for fans was the sighting of star batter Virat Kohli and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who were spotted practicing indoors with assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.

There are still hopes for some play on Day 1 of the opening match of the series. While India managed to achieve a quick result in two days against Bangladesh, replicating that outcome may prove challenging this time.
