Ben Duckett completes 1,000 Test runs

On Sunday, England opener Ben Duckett reached 1,000 Test runs.
The left-handed opener achieved this milestone during England’s second Ashes Test against Australia at Lord’s.

Duckett performed admirably with the bat. He scored 98 in 134 balls in the first innings, including nine fours. In the second innings, he and skipper Ben Stokes shared a key combination, hitting 83 off 112 balls with nine boundaries.

There are nine boundaries. Duckett now has 1,012 runs in 12 Tests at an average of 48.19. He has two century and seven fifties, with the highest score being 182. He scores runs at an 85.47 percent strike rate.

Duckett has been in excellent form this season. He has 545 runs at an average of 60.55 in five Tests. In 10 innings, he has one century and three fifties, with the highest score of 182.

Duckett has played well in the Ashes so far. Despite scoring fifty in both innings of the Lord’s Test, he struggled in the first Test, failing to reach the 20-run barrier in both innings.

In four innings, he has 212 runs scored at an average of 53.00, with two fifties. He is England’s second-highest run-scorer in the series, after only Stokes (216 runs). England was reduced to 45/4 in the pursuit of 371 runs. A 132-run fifth-wicket stand between skipper Ben Stokes and Duckett lifted England to 112/4 at the close of day four.

On the last day, following Duckett’s removal for 83 and Jonny Bairstow’s cheap dismissal, Stokes carried England’s fight alone, bringing up his century and 150 by smashing Aussie bowlers with massive sixes all over the field. He was out for 155 off 214 balls, with nine fours and nine sixes, leaving England on 301/7.
