Are Virender Sehwag and Aarti Ahlawat Parting Ways After 20 Years of Marriage?

Recent tabloid covers feature Virender Sehwag, a top Indian cricketer, not for his sports accomplishments but for rumors surrounding his personal life. Observations that the couple has in followed each other on social media have hinted at possible concerns between Sehwag and his wife, Aarti Ahlawat, according to a well-known media source. Married for two decades, these events have caused rumors of their potential divorce.

Married in 2004, Virender Sehwag and Aarti Ahlawat have two boys: Aryaveer (2007) and Vedant (2010). Though Sehwag’s social media still show older few together, recent activity calls into questions. He has notably not posted any fresh images with Aarti in the last several months. For instance, his Diwali 2024 postings featured photographs of his sons and mother, but Aarti was nowhere to be seen. His solitary appearance also characterized his last trip to the Vishwa Nagayakshi temple in Palakkad, Kerala. Meanwhile, the social media profile of Aarti Ahlawat is private, therefore more questions remain unanswered.

Though neither Sehwag nor Ahlawat has officially replied to the rumors, social media is alive with conjecture about the supposed split of the couple.

Should they be verified, their separation would fit with a rising number of well-known couples going through “grey divorce”—the name given to later life marital divisions. AR Rahman and Saira Banu, Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan, Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates, and Jeff Bezos and MacKenzie Scott are among other well-known cases.

Professionally, Virender Sehwag is still praised as one of India’s finest opening batsmen. He posted a professional top score of 319 in 104 Test matches and 251 ODIs played during his renowned career.
