Former cricketer and noted commentator Aakash Chopra is unhappy over the team selection in the second ODI against the West Indies at Bridgetown. Two senior batters of the team, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, were rested, and Hardik Pandya led the side.
India lost the second ODI by six wickets, and currently the series stands at 1-1.
Men in blue failed miserably and scored a paltry 181 on the board. However, the home side chased down the target easily with 80 balls to spare with the help of a match winning half century by Shai Hope. This loss was heartbreaking for Team India.
Aakash Chopra went on to say that the experimentation policy and the rest of the senior duo didn’t require here. “I don’t know why Rohit and Virat were rested; they haven’t played a lot of cricket because, if you see, after the WTC final there was a break of three weeks and there were only seven days of play in the India-West Indies two-Test series.
Several other former cricketers slammed the rotation policy and giving rest to senior players.
Former Test cricketer RP Singh stressed the role of each player in the team. He further added that “you should make your playing eleven as we are inching closer to the cricket World Cup. The team should know at least ten key players and always keep playing them.
