In a groundbreaking move, the Western Railway (WR) is orchestrating the operation of two special trains, including a Vande Bharat Express, to facilitate the travel of cricket fans from Mumbai to Ahmedabad in time for the highly anticipated India-Pakistan cricket World Cup match scheduled for October 14.
This marks the first instance where the WR will deploy an inter-city train exclusively for a sports event. A fully air-conditioned train is slated to depart from Mumbai at around 10 pm on October 13, with an estimated arrival time of 6 am on the following day, ensuring fans are well-prepared to converge at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera for the 2 pm match.
While the precise schedule and stopovers are still being finalized, key destinations such as Surat, Vadodara, Anand, and Bharuch are expected to be included in the route.
