Haryana Assembly Speaker Shri Gian Chand Gupta inaugurated the New Shiva Antyodaya Market in Sector-9 on Sunday. This market, equipped with essential facilities, has provided permanent shops to 132 shopkeepers. The Speaker visited the market, assessed the available facilities, and extended best wishes to the shopkeepers for their new ventures.
It is worth noting that on September 1, 2022, the Sector-9 street market was destroyed in an arson incident. Thanks to the efforts of Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, the market has now been re-established with permanent booths, ensuring a stable place for shopkeepers to earn their livelihoods. Gupta played a significant role, making a special financial contribution to the market’s construction.
During the programme organized for the inauguration, Gian Chand Gupta shared his vivid memory of learning about the tragic incident during his foreign tour. He promptly informed Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal, who provided immediate relief by granting Rs 40 lakh, distributed at Rs 25,000 each to the affected shopkeepers. Gupta, upon his return, personally contributed Rs 41 lakh to assist the shopkeepers.
Gian Chand Gupta also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Manohar Lal for swiftly directing officials to create permanent booths in Panchkula for the affected shopkeepers. Despite facing challenges in the process, the 7-member committee dedicated to the project successfully resolved them, bringing satisfaction to Gupta as the shopkeepers began operating in their new shops.
As a public representative of Panchkula, Gian Chand Gupta emphasized his commitment to sharing the joys and sorrows of every resident. He encouraged the shopkeepers of Sector-9 to start their new lives in the reconstructed market, expressing hope for their prosperity.
Gupta advised the shopkeepers to maintain the market’s ideal status by refraining from keeping goods outside the booths. He stressed the importance of considering customers as forms of God and requested the shopkeepers to address any obstacles faced by customers promptly. During the event, Gupta honored various organizations for their support in constructing the market.
BB Singal, Chairman of Traders Welfare Board, Panchkula, highlighted the financial support from Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta and other social organizations in constructing the New Shiva Antyodaya Market.
