“Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign” will be conducted across the state by the Medical and Health Department from January 30, 2024 to February 13, 2024. Starting from Leprosy Day which is observed on 30th January every year, various activities shall be organized for the prevention of leprosy at the district, block and panchayat level in this campaign.
Director of Public Health Dr Ravi Prakash Mathur said that as part of the activities to be organized across the state on January 30 on the occasion of Leprosy Day, a message for awareness of leprosy shall be broadcast by the District Collector in all the districts.
On Leprosy Day, the Sarpanch will appeal to the Gram Sabha members to put in serious efforts to remove discrimination against people affected by leprosy. Also, if there is any leprosy-free person in the meeting, he will be declared a special guest of the Gram Sabha.
