Expert Warns of Solar ‘Micronova’ Capable of Wiping Out 90% of Humanity

A space weather expert warns that a cyclical solar "micronova" could occur within decades, triggering a pole shift and a geomagnetic storm severe enough to collapse global infrastructure and cause a mass extinction.

A chilling warning from a space weather expert suggests that a catastrophic event originating from the Sun could lead to the extinction of the majority of the human population. Ben Davidson, founder of Space Weather News, warns that this is not a far-off danger but an active process that could peak catastrophically at any moment.

Davidson states that a solar “micronova“, a massive stellar explosion, could trigger a cascade of events on Earth, culminating in a mass extinction. He argues that scientific evidence points to this cyclical disaster, and the signs suggest we are currently in the cycle where it could occur.

What is the Predicted Catastrophe?

At its core, the theory suggests a solar phenomenon far more extreme than any event documented in modern history. According to Davidson, the Sun might launch an unprecedented coronal mass ejection, or gigantic plasma explosion.

This solar explosion would be so potent that it could cause a shift in Earth’s magnetic poles. The impact of this shift would be catastrophic, with near-instant climate upheaval followed by massive tsunamis and widespread ruin. Davidson categorizes this as a “near extinction-level event.”

How Likely is This Solar Superstorm?

While solar storms are regular occurrences, Davidson points to a historical pattern of much larger events. He references the Carrington Event of 1859, a powerful geomagnetic storm that caused telegraph systems to fail and wires to catch fire, as a minor example.

According to his research, a solar explosion of varying severity occurs approximately every 6,000 years, with a truly catastrophic event happening once every 12,000 years. He warns that the next major event is overdue and could happen within the next 10 to 25 years. The Sun’s recent high activity is seen as a potential precursor.

Why Would the Impact Be So Severe?

The forecast’s seriousness stems from modern civilization’s vulnerability; even without immediate casualties, technology would be swiftly paralyzed.

Power networks around the world would be overloaded and destroyed by the strong electrical currents that the geomagnetic storm would cause in the ground. This would lead to a domino effect of systemic failure. As Davidson warns, “Within three days, there’s no gasoline at the pump. There’s no food at the store.” Water production and distribution would cease, emergency services would be rendered inoperable, supply lines would be disrupted, and societal collapse would occur quickly if the electrical system collapsed.

Is Earth’s Defenses Weakening?

The condition of Earth’s magnetic field, which serves as our main defense against solar radiation, makes the situation even more serious. Researchers confirm that the planet’s molten outer core is causing both the steady weakening of the magnetic field and the gradual movement of the magnetic poles.

Less protection from a weaker magnetic field would enable a solar storm to reach deeper into the atmosphere and inflict more significant harm on the surface and technology infrastructure.

How Does This Relate to Other Predictions?

This solar threat exists alongside other long-term existential warnings. Scientists have previously predicted that rising CO2 levels could lead to a mass extinction in the next 250 million years. Others have warned of the potential for mega-tsunamis within this century. Davidson’s theory introduces a more immediate, albeit highly debated, astronomical threat that operates on a different timescale than human-caused climate change.
