The United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) was established by the UN Security Council through Resolution 1590[1] on March 24, 2005. This followed the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Sudanese government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement on January 9, 2005.
