The UAE was represented at the meeting of finance ministers, central bank governors, and heads of regional financial institutions in the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (MENAP) region by the Ministry of Finance.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the World Bank Group’s (WBG) and International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) 2023 Spring Meetings in Washington, DC from the 10th to the 16th of April, and discussed key strategic issues and economic growth in the region, as well as future prospects and fiscal policy requirements to combat inflation.
Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, attended the meeting, which was presided over by Kristalina Georgieva, IMF Managing Director. A number of finance ministers, central bank governors, and heads of regional financial institutions from the MENAP region attended the meeting.
Al Hussaini thanked Kristalina Georgieva and emphasised the IMF’s critical role in devising solutions to the world’s current challenges.
