Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate office in the national capital for the third round of questioning accompanied by her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Earlier on Tuesday, Sonia Gandhi reached the ED office for the second round of questioning in connection with a money laundering case linked to the National Herald Newspaper. IN which ED questioned Sonia Gandhi for over six hours.

Meanwhile, Congress workers will protest at AICC headquarters in Delhi against the questioning. Addressing a joint press conference Ghulam Nabi Azad, Jairam Ramesh, Anand Sharma, and Gehlot said, “First they summoned Rahul Gandhi. He was interrogated for several hours in five days. Sonia Gandhi has been summoned for the third time today. We have no idea how long it would last. There should be a timely SC decision on the terror of ED in the country.”

Moreover, Sonia Gandhi responded to around 30 questions. The questioning started at 11 am and lasted until 7 pm including 90 minutes of lunch break. The questioning was led by additional director Monika Sharma.

Delhi Police on Tuesday detained Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with several party leaders as ED quizzes Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case. Congress leader Rahul was taken to Parliament Street police station after being detained from Parliament to Vijay Chowk.

“I am not going anywhere. We wanted to go towards the President’s house. But the police are not allowing us,” Rahul Gandhi had said.

Earlier on July 21, when Sonia Gandhi was called for the first round of questioning then senior Congress leaders including Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, P Chidambaram, Ajay Maken, Manickam Tagore, KC Venugopal, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, Shashi Tharoor, Sachin Pilot, Harish Rawat, Ashok Gehlot, K Suresh, and others are detained while going from Parliament to Congress headquarters.

Notably, on June 1, the ED summoned Sonia Gandhi to appear on June 8 for the first time in a money laundering case involving the National Herald but due to COVID-19, she didn’t appear. Last month the ED also questioned Rahul Gandhi.
