Renowned Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor Ahuja bid a heartfelt farewell to the legendary French designer Jean Paul Gaultier, who played a pivotal role in shaping her debut appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011. Gaultier, celebrated for his avant-garde designs and theatrical runways, marked the conclusion of his illustrious five-decade career with a spectacular couture show in Paris this week.

Kapoor Ahuja, a longstanding muse for Gaultier, attended the designer’s swan song, joining a star-studded audience that included Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Christian Louboutin, and other luminaries from the fashion world. The Bollywood sensation chose a special ensemble from Gaultier’s fall haute couture 2017 collection for the occasion, a fitting tribute to the designer who kickstarted her remarkable fashion journey.

The highlight of Kapoor Ahuja’s attire was an India-inspired sari tuxedo, a recurring theme in Gaultier’s work. The ensemble featured a cut-up version of a menswear jacket, creatively draped to mimic a traditional sari drape, and paired with wide-legged trousers. The choice exuded elegance and paid homage to the couturier’s distinctive style.

Adding a touch of sophistication, Kapoor Ahuja complemented the all-black tailored separates with a luxurious ankle-length camel coat, a perfect choice for the Parisian winter. The actor personalized the archival look with traditional elements, donning a statement rustic silver and pearl necklace by Amrapali, recreating a memorable moment from her Cannes debut in 2011.

To complete her look, Kapoor Ahuja adorned herself with a delicate black bindi, embraced a middle-parted ethnic-style bun, and opted for intense smoky eyes. The attention to detail in her ensemble showcased the actor’s appreciation for Gaultier’s craftsmanship and her commitment to honouring the designer’s legacy on his final couture runway.
