Slow subsidence up to 9cm is recorded in Joshimath town over a period of seven months, between April and November 2022, according to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) satellite-based report. “Between 27 December, 2022 and 8 January, 2023, a rapid subsidence event was triggered”, the reports states. The region subsided around 5cm within a span of few days. It is confined to the central part of Joshimath town, says ISRO.
During the meeting, he interacted with the Army, ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police), NDRF (Nation Disaster Response Force) and scientists from various establishments engaged in landslides investigation, district administration, police and district-level officers associated with essential services at Sunil ITBP camp. CM Dhami said that the safety of the citizens is our biggest responsibility.
