The Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has condemned the remarks by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut and labelled them as “derogatory and factually incorrect”. The farmers’ group expressed deep concerns about Ranaut’s statements, which they claim insult the farming community and accuse them of being “murderers, rapists, conspirators, and anti-nationals”.
SKM has spearheaded the farmers’ movement against the Union government’s farm laws. SKM said that despite numerous provocations their protests remained peaceful and lawful throughout. It underscored the movement’s significance and the sacrifice of 736 farmers, including the victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. SKM has demanded an unconditional apology from Kangana Ranaut. The group warned that if she fails to apologize, they would be compelled to call for a public boycott of the BJP MP.
It asked Ranaut to “educate herself ”about the history and politics of farmers’movement. They said the movement is a continuation of India’s anti-colonial struggle and a fight against imperialist-driven corporate policies.
SKM has also called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologize to the farmers for the comments made by Ranaut, asserting that the PM has a constitutional duty to stand with the farmers, who are the backbone of the nation’s food security.
