In a significant move to streamline the pension application process, the government has introduced a new, simplified pension form called ‘Bhavishya.’ This new form is set to benefit central government employees who are approaching retirement by consolidating nine separate forms into a single, unified document—Form 6A.

A Major Step Towards Seamless Retirement

Union Minister Jitendra Singh officially launched the ‘Bhavishya’ form via video conference, emphasizing its role in simplifying the retirement process for central government employees. Starting from December 2024, this new form will be available on both the Bhavishya and e-HRMS (electronic Human Resource Management System) portals.

The Bhavishya initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, is designed to ensure that all retirement dues and the Pension Payment Order (PPO) are processed and delivered promptly on the day of retirement. This move marks a crucial step in the government’s broader “maximum governance-minimum government” initiative.

Features of the Bhavishya System

The Bhavishya system not only simplifies the pension application process but also allows retiring employees and administrative authorities to track pension sanctions and payments online. Additionally, it offers the option to download the ePPO, ensuring a smooth transition from employment to retirement.

The e-HRMS portal plays a supportive role by housing service records and other relevant details of government employees, further facilitating the pension application process.

Impact on the Pension System

The launch of the Bhavishya form is expected to revolutionize the pension system by making it more efficient and paperless. The end-to-end digitization of the pension process will reduce paperwork, enhance transparency, and significantly ease the lives of both retiring employees and pensioners.

This new initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve administrative efficiency and ensure that the retirement process is as smooth and stress-free as possible for its employees.
