A spike in dengue cases has been reported in Siliguri. So far 101 confirmed cases have been registered.
The Siliguri Municipal Corporation said the current pattern of weather is leading to a rise in dengue cases. To combat the situation various steps have been taken by the SMC including engaging the Vector Control Teams.
“There has been a little spurt in Dengue cases this year and the Civic body focused on cleanliness. 101 cases have been reported this year so far out of which 62 have been found in August only,” said Sonam Wangdu Bhatia Commissioner, SMC.
“It should be mentioned that only one two cases of Dengue were reported during the COVID-19 pandemic till 25th August 2020, 16 cases during 2021 and 73 cases in 2022.” SMC Commissioner, Bhatia said.
However, a spurt of Dengue cases is because of the recent weather change which increased magnificently this year.
