Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday recalled the sacrifices of ‘Sikh Gurus’ on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

“Sikh Gurus spread the light of strength and faith wherever they went. Their lives and teachings inspire generations to remain selflessly dedicated to the nation, ‘dharm’ and humanity,” CM Yogi extended greetings.

CM Yogi further said, “Such grand and fearless celebrations on auspicious occasions like these cannot take place at Guru Nanak Ji’s holy place ‘Nankana Sahib’. We must learn from our mistakes in the past. History is not just a medium to study but also guides us not to repeat blunders.”

Talking about Sikh Gurus CM Yogi said, Sikh Gurus have always saved humanity including ‘dharm’. “Their teachings awakened people and spread the light of ‘humanity’,” CM Yogi said.

Meanwhile, Guru Nanak Jayanti is a sacred festival which is also known as Gurupurab which marks the birth of the first Sikh guru Guru Nanak Dev and is observed on the full moon date or Kartik Purnima every year.

“Today, when traveling is easy, we still face difficulties, however, Guru Nanak Dev Ji had paved the way for the welfare of humanity through religious preaching even by visiting places where it was nearly impossible to reach,” Yogi said.

On the occasion, several leaders were present like Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, MLA Sardar Baldev Singh Aulakh, former Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma, Lucknow Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia, and MLA Rajeshwar Singh.

However, Guru Nanak Dev was a man of peace who was born in 1469 at Raj Bhoi di Talwandi village (Nankana Sahib) near Lahore. Nanak dev spent all his life spreading peace among the people.

Furthermore, on this day in Gurudwaras prayers are held and in many parts of India, Prakash Utsav is celebrated.
