Shubman Gill, the poster boy of Indian cricket, achieved a unique milestone by becoming the first cricketer in contemporary cricket to score a century in a Test, ODIs, T20Is, and IPL in a calendar year.
Gill was in blistering form in the match against SRH, scoring 101 off 58 balls at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, adding another feather to his short career.
Earlier, Gill made a daddy hundred against New Zealand in an ODI; he went on to hit 208 off 149 deliveries in Hyderabad. In the T20I, he made his maiden hundred against the same opponent, scoring 126 runs.
This ground has proved lucky for Gill, as he scored a scintillating knock of 128 runs against Australia this year in the longest format of the game.
In the ongoing IPL edition, he has already amassed 576 runs with an average of 48 and a healthy strike rate of 146.19.
Legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar said it was a dream century from Gill, as he never put a foot wrong throughout his knock. Gill scored his maiden IPL century and the first-ever ton for GT.
Gill’s impressive century and Shami’s mesmerising bowling helped GT clinch a 34-run victory against SRH in the IPL 2023.
Following their victory, GT have been focusing on their last group-stage encounter against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on 21 May.
