Ayurveda is the oldest medical system across the world and has helped in the treatment of myriad incurable diseases, said Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar while inaugurating the Ayurveda festival at Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital here on Monday. He further said that early treatment is possible in the allopathy but it comes with many side effects.
Stressing on the importance of right to education and health, he said that his government has made serious efforts to expand both the facilities to all. The Chief Minister said that CHIRAYU Haryana Yojana has been implemented to provide medical care to all people of the state. “It is the endeavour of the state government to ensure health check-up of all the people of the state and keeping this in mind, Nirogi Haryana Yojana has been launched. In the first phase, free medical check-up of Antyodaya families will be done. The state government has been constantly working for the promotion of Ayurveda and in this context, Shri Krishna AYUSH University is being built on 100 acres of land in Kurukshetra”, Khattar added.
Later, Vaidya Naresh Mittal, general secretary, Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital, talked about the achievements of the college. He said that in 1976, Shri Dhanwantry Education Society was formed and in the same year, Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital was established. He further added that it is the only Ayurvedic institute in Chandigarh and is affiliated to Shri Krishna AYUSH University, Kurukshetra. It is a 125-bed hospital. Besides, the college has 100 undergraduate and 24 postgraduate seats. He further said that it will soon start a Ph. D programme.
On the occasion, chairman, All India Ayurveda Mahasammelan Trust, Vaidya Devendra Triguna, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Panchkula and chairman, Shri Dhanwantry Education Society, Chandigarh, Kulbhushan Goyal, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Anup Gupta, chairman, National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, Rakesh Sharma and others were present.
