A doctor was tragically shot and killed by two minors inside a Delhi hospital early on Thursday, October 3, according to police reports.
The suspects, aged between 16 and 17, arrived at Neema Hospital in the Jaitpur area around 1:30 am, claiming to need medical assistance. One of the minors requested hospital staff to change the dressing on his injured toe.
After receiving treatment, the accused entered the office of Dr. Javed Akhtar, a practitioner of Unani Medicine, and fatally shot him.
Police noted that the two suspects had also visited the hospital for treatment on October 1.
Following the incident, Delhi Police were alerted and dispatched a team to the scene, where they began reviewing CCTV footage to gather information about the assailants. A forensic team from Delhi Police also arrived to collect technical evidence from the crime scene.
A staff member at the hospital recounted, “Around 1 am, two teenage boys came to the hospital for treatment. They then entered the doctor’s cabin and shot him in the head. Dr. Javed was on night duty from 8 pm and had been working at the hospital for two years.”
