Indian Idol Season 12 has commenced and the top 15 have been shortlisted after the rounds of digital auditions. In the theatre round, the judges, Vishal Dadlani, Neha Kakkar and Himesh Reshammiya revealed the top 15 for the show which airs on Sony Entertainment Television since the year 2004.

One of the Indian Idol contestants, Shamukhapriya spoke exclusively to The Daily Guardian about her journey, inspiration and life after Indian Idol.

How has the journey been in Indian Idol so far? What are the preparations being made?

My journey in Indian Idol so far has been an amazing one filled with excitement. In the course of the show, I have learnt many different and new things. Talking about preparations, my main focus will be hard work and prepare for every song diligently.

Who has been your inspiration as a singer?

My parents, they both are musicians. I have also visited concerts with them and then I started enjoying music after which I started singing. My first inspiration is my parents and in singers, my inspiration would be legendary singers like Lata Mangeshkar Ji and Kishore Kumar ji.

Who is your favourite judge and why?

All the three judges are my favourite, Himesh Sir is always energetic, he always brings a smile on my face. Vishal sir is very supportive and Neha Ma’am inspires me a lot, her ups and downs, and her struggle motivates me.

Among all the seasons, you are the first singer to do yodelling, and have received immense love and praise for it, how does it feel?

I wanted to present something different and hence I performed the yodelling song. As the episode was aired, I received appreciation not only from judges but also from the audience. I am really grateful for the love and support I have got from people.

From the first till last Indian Idol season, any contestant you followed?

Indian Idol has been my favourite show, I have been watching it since childhood. All the contestants have been worth watching and emerge as winners.

How has your life changed after becoming a part of Indian Idol?

Indian Idol has always been my dream show, I am grateful to be a part of it. It is just the start and I have received immense love from the audience, I am excited about it and looking forward.
