Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, receiving medical care at an Ahmedabad hospital for heatstroke, is expected to be discharged on Thursday, according to a police official.
The K D Hospital, where Khan is being treated, has not released any official statement regarding his condition.
The actor was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday after experiencing health issues.
He had been in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to attend an Indian Premier League (IPL) match featuring his team, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
“Khan is still receiving treatment at the hospital. It is possible that he may be discharged today,” stated Ahmedabad (Rural) Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat.
Many parts of Gujarat have been experiencing severe heatwave conditions over the past few days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ahmedabad recorded maximum temperatures of 45.2 and 45.9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, categorizing the city as experiencing a “heatwave.”
KKR secured a spot in their fourth IPL final with an impressive eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday.
Videos shared by KKR’s official account showed Khan celebrating his team’s victory with a lap of honor, accompanied by his children Suhana Khan and AbRam Khan.
Khan also interacted with fans and players at the stadium. KKR is scheduled to play the final in Chennai on Sunday.
