Ravindra Sharma, the primary contender for the Senior Citizen Council post in the upcoming elections, declared that the council building would remain open every day of the year, including Sundays. This announcement was made following his nomination filing on Friday.

Sharma emphasised the importance of the council building being accessible on Sundays, a day when senior citizens are typically free and would like to spend their time at the council facility. On the first day of nominations for the Senior Citizens Council Panchkula elections scheduled for March 17, all five candidates from the Ravindra Sharma Group submitted their nomination papers. Panchkula: Supporters of the Ravindra Sharma team began gathering at the Sector 15 council building early in the day. With approximately 100 supporters chanting slogans of “Jai Shri Ram,” Sharma and his team met with Election Officer Harivansh Gupta and colleague Mr. M.R. Ahuja.

Social worker and Sector 10 chairperson Bharat Hiteshi proposed the nomination for Pradhan post candidate Ravindra Sharma, which was approved by Sector 15 chairperson Mohnish Manik. Deputy Pradhan candidate Suresh Gupta’s nomination was proposed by Sector 16 chairperson RC Gupta and Rajendra Rastogi.

During his address to supporters, Sharma pledged to keep the council building open 365 days a year, maintaining the present timings for members. He assured that there would be no increase in the annual fee for members, currently set at Rs 500, and proposed reducing the new member fee from Rs 4000 to Rs 3000. Special initiatives for the health facilities of senior citizens and elderly members were also promised.

Among those present at the Council Bhawan were JN Garg, Bharat Hitaishi, RP Kapoor, Abhilash Sharma, RC Gupta, RC Sharma, SP Sharma, BB Sharma, BK Gupta Arun Bansal, KK Makkar, Sudhir Diwan, RK Mahajan, Dinesh Lamba, AK Jain, Rajeev Bansal, KP Sharma, Kuldeep Gagneja, BD Gupta, Prem Monga, OP Chawla, HK Sharma, Rajendra Rastogi, Ram Lal Arora, and other dignitaries.
