The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, and member of the Congress Working Committee, Kumari Selja said that the BJP-JJP Alliance Government is entirely anti-poor. The Chirag scheme, run in the name of educating children from poor families in private schools, is not for the welfare of children but has been launched to deceive them. The sole aim of this scheme is to benefit private schools, this is the goal of the alliance government. Under this scheme, students who now enroll in the 10th and 12th grades face the looming issue of appearing for board exams. In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that applying for admission under the Chirag scheme after eight months have passed since the start of the academic session on April 1st is not logical in any way. Students who now join private schools will neither be able to adjust to the environment nor complete their syllabus during the last months of the session. Balancing the curriculum taught in government schools with that of private schools will become difficult. She said that the government has asked for applications from children of poor families for admission to private schools by November 24, while the Haryana Board of School Education has set November 21 as the deadline for submitting forms for the 10th and 12th-grade exams. Hence, if applications for admission are accepted until November 24, there is a high chance that the admission process will stretch into December. Even if a student enrolls in a private school for the 10th or 12th grade, they might face difficulty in taking the board exams.
Kumari Selja said that the BJP-JJP alliance government has no plan to compensate for the losses in the education of these students due to delayed admissions. It is evident that the government’s intention is not to educate these children but to push them further behind. The government itself does not want a child from a poor family to become a high-ranking officer, hence, a conspiracy is being hatched to delay the admissions of these children. Due to the wrong policies prepared regarding the state government’s education, according to government figures from 2014 to 2023, millions of children have been forced to drop out of education. The government’s objective is not to provide education to students studying in government schools but to harass them and force them to quit. The former Union Minister Kumari Selja said that when everyone knows that the new academic session starts on April 1, why weren’t their admissions conducted in the last week of March or the first week of April? Delaying admissions till the end of the session clearly indicates that the government wants to benefit private schools by making students pay a full year’s fee in exchange for just three months of study.
