In preparation for the upcoming polls in the Jammu Lok Sabha constituency, a security review meeting was convened on Monday to strategize ensuring a conducive and secure environment for voters to exercise their franchise without fear or intimidation, stated a police spokesman.
The Jammu parliamentary seat is slated for polling in the second phase on April 26.
Chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police (Jammu) Vinod Kumar at the district police lines, the meeting extensively deliberated on deployment and coordination of security personnel to safeguard polling stations, election officials, and voters. Stringent security protocols were discussed to prevent untoward incidents or disruptions during the election period.
Collaboration with relevant authorities and stakeholders to address emerging security challenges or threats, maintenance of law and order, and vigilance against electoral malpractice or illegal activities compromising the integrity of the electoral process were key focal points of the meeting.
Additionally, various aspects of policing, including quality investigation of cases, crime disposal, disposal of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act cases, inquest proceedings, and handling absconding and missing persons, were addressed.
SSP Vinod Kumar directed officers to ensure both quantitative and qualitative disposal of cases under investigation. Emphasizing the importance of quick response, he underscored the significance of polite behavior and empathy while addressing the concerns of the general public.
The meeting reflected a commitment to proactive security measures and responsible policing to facilitate smooth and fair elections in the Jammu Lok Sabha constituency.
