Bastar’s Inspector General of Police (IG) P Sundarraj stated that reinforcements have been dispatched, and search operations continue following the killing of six Naxals in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district. The clash occurred near Chipurbhatti jungle along the Talperu River under Basaguda Police Station in Bijapur, involving security forces and the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), the armed wing of the Naxals’ Platoon No 10.

“Six Naxals, including four males and two females, were found dead under Basaguda PS limits. We also recovered communication systems used by the Naxals. The security personnel are safe; reinforcements have been dispatched,” said IG Sundarraj.

Regarding reports of high-ranking Naxal cadres being among the casualties, he mentioned, “The bodies are being identified. The final confirmation will be done after identification.”

The operation, involving the Basaguda District Reserve Guard, the Central Reserve Police Force, and its CoBRA unit, is seen as a significant blow to the Naxal insurgency in the region, reflecting the intensified efforts of security forces against the extremist group.

Details regarding the operation and the identities of those killed are yet to be released. This operation highlights the continued efforts of security forces to restore peace in Naxal-affected regions.

Further updates on the situation in Bijapur are expected as the search operation progresses and more information becomes available.

In an earlier incident on March 23, two jawans were injured in an IED blast in Dantewada’s Naxal stronghold, Kirandul police station area, during an anti-Naxal operation, as reported by the superintendent of police in the district.
