Acting strictly against illegal mining in the area, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Himanshu Gupta impounded a JCB and one tipper from two different sites on Friday. Divulging details, the SDM said that, as per the orders of Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Aashika Jain, it was a surprise raid to check for illegal mining, in addition to observing excavation from legal sites. The checking team, led by him, comprised the Executive Engineer Mining, SDO Mining, and SHO Lalru.
During the inspection at Khedi Jatan, illegal mining was found to be ongoing. A JCB was recovered from the site, and an FIR has been recommended in this case, said the SDM. Similarly, when checking was done at Site Bijanpur, the excavation exceeded the permitted depth. Mining officials have been ordered to draw up level sheets to ensure only the permitted depth.
At the third site, Mukandpur, illegal mining was in progress, with the excavation being done for brick kilns. In this case, a tipper has been impounded, added the SDM. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate reiterated that nobody would be allowed to engage in illegal mining activities in the Sub-Division and would be dealt with strictly in case of a violation.
