The Supreme Court of India’s official YouTube channel was taken down on Friday after being hacked earlier in the day. The court announced that services will resume shortly.

Hargurvarinder Singh Jaggi, the Registrar (Technology), issued a notice confirming the incident: “This is to inform all concerned that the YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India has been taken down. The services on the YouTube channel will be resumed shortly.”

The hacking incident involved the channel displaying content related to the US-based cryptocurrency company Ripple. Viewers reported seeing a blank video titled “Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC’s $2 Billion Fine! XRP PRICE PREDICTION.”

With over 200,000 subscribers, the Supreme Court’s YouTube channel is an important platform for live-streaming cases involving Constitution benches and matters of public interest. Following the hacking, the official link to the channel was altered to reflect the name “Ripple,” and the link has since been disabled.
