Green Grove Public School, a private school located in Mohanpur, Khanna, Ludhiana, had banned the entry of grandparents in their annual function. Taking cognizance of the matter, a notice has been issued to the school’s management on the orders of School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.
Bains said that on November 20, an annual function was organized at Khanna’s private school, Green Grove Public School. In this function, only the parents of the children were invited, whereas the school sent a special slip along with an invitation stating that Grandparents are not allowed in the Annual function. Bains said it shows a sense of disrespect towards elders.
Adhering to the directive of Punjab School Education Harjot Singh Bains, the Punjab School Education
Department has issued show cause notice to Green Grove Public School Khanna for banning the entry of grandparents during annual day function of the school asking the management to submit reply through District
Education officer Ludhiana within two days.
Giving details, Bains said, the matter of banning entry of grandparents in the annual event on November 20, 2022, has come to his notice. It was mentioned on a slip enclosed with the invitation that only parents of the wards are invited. “The School shows disrespect towards our respectable elders, which will not be tolerated at any cost”, uttered the Cabinet Minister taking strict cognizance of the issue. He asked the officials of the education department to take immediate action as per law to ensure that no private school does such unethical act in future.
