A hearing will be held in the Supreme Court on Monday regarding the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Mayor election. The Aam Aadmi Party filed a petition in the Supreme Court, alleging irregularities in the Chandigarh Mayor elections. In this case, presiding officer Anil Masih has to appear before the Supreme Court on Monday, February 19. While hearing the case on February 5, the Supreme Court reprimanded the election officer Anil Masih and said that he had termed the Chandigarh Mayor election a joke with democracy and murder of democracy. There will be a hearing today regarding this. The entire city is keeping an eye on the decision of the Supreme Court.
On the Chandigarh Mayor election, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court said that democracy will not be allowed to be murdered. What the returning officer did is like murder of democracy. It is clearly visible in the video that he is looking at the camera and spoiling the ballot paper. Legal action should be taken against this officer. The Supreme Court had also stayed the budget presented by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation on January 7. In the elections for Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress alliance had 20 votes while the BJP alliance had 16 votes. But 8 votes of the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress alliance were declared invalid, and BJP’s mayoral candidate was declared the winner with 16 votes. After this, Aam Aadmi Party councilor Kuldeep Kumar filed a petition in the Supreme Court after the High Court.
The election of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Mayor was held on January 30 on the orders of the High Court. In which BJP’s Manoj Sonkar won the mayoral election with 16 votes due to manipulation, while 8 out of 20 votes of the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress alliance were canceled. After the defeat, alliance candidate Kuldeep Tita filed a petition in the High Court to cancel the election and seek a re-election for the mayor. Punjab and Haryana High Court have issued a notice to the Chandigarh Administration and the Municipal Corporation in the entire matter and asked them to file their reply within 3 weeks. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party reached the Supreme Court regarding the entire matter.
