JAIPUR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested the village head (Sarpanch) of Bada in the Sabala tehsil of Dungarpur on Wednesday for taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. The Sarpanch had demanded Rs 40,000 in exchange for awarding a contract for fish farming. According to the bureau’s ADG Hemant Priyadarshi, Sarpanch Raman Meena of Gram Panchayat Bodega in Sabala tehsil had asked for a bribe in the pretext of awarding a contract for fish farming in the village’s pond. Upon this demand, the complainant settled on a deal for Rs 20,000 and lodged a complaint with the bureau. After verifying the complaint, a team led by ASP Vikram Singh Rathore from the Banswara unit of the bureau arrested the Sarpanch on Wednesday.
