Musheer Khan, the younger brother of Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, was reportedly involved in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh, as per a *Times of India* report. The Mumbai cricketer sustained a fracture while traveling with his father and coach, Naushad Khan, from Kanpur to Lucknow for the Irani Cup match. Musheer, a promising talent, recently made headlines with a score of 181 in the Duleep Trophy for India C against a strong India A side, which included players like Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, and Kuldeep Yadav. He has played nine first-class matches so far.

Due to the accident, the 19-year-old will miss the upcoming Irani Cup match between Mumbai and Rest of India, scheduled from October 1-5 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. He will also be sidelined for the initial stages of the Ranji Trophy, starting on October 11.

A separate report mentioned that Musheer suffered a neck injury and could be out for around three months. “He didn’t travel with the Mumbai team to Lucknow for the Irani Cup. He was likely on his way to Lucknow from Azamgarh with his father when the accident occurred,” a source was quoted as saying.

Musheer, who has had a stellar first-class season, was set to participate in the India A shadow tour to Australia, where the team will play three ‘four-day’ Tests. After a double century in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final and a century in the final, Musheer’s impressive form continued with his 181 for India B against India A. The India A squad for Australia will be selected based on performances in the Duleep Trophy and the Irani Cup. Musheer, along with Rajasthan left-arm spinner Manav Suthar, is considered a strong candidate for the tour.
