Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh made an accusation against the BJP on Thursday, alleging that the party was engaging in vindictive politics by targeting the elderly parents of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Singh stated, “The Prime Minister has stooped to such a low level against Delhi CM that first he arrested ministers from Kejriwal’s cabinet, put them in jail, then arrested Kejriwal himself, and today crossed all boundaries by subjecting Kejriwal’s elderly parents to police harassment.”
He continued, highlighting the advanced age and health conditions of Kejriwal’s parents. “Kejriwal’s father, aged 84, requires support even for a walk and has hearing impairments. His mother, aged 76, underwent an operation two days before Kejriwal’s arrest, and he couldn’t even meet her before the operation before being sent to jail.”
Singh condemned what he described as the Prime Minister’s politics of vengeance, asserting, “The politics of vengeance of the Prime Minister has stooped so low that even Kejriwal’s elderly parents are not being spared. The entire country, the whole of Delhi, is watching this.”
Singh also alleged that the parents of the Delhi Chief Minister were being subjected to harassment under the guise of interrogation. The AAP shared a photo of Kejriwal’s mother, stating that she has been unwell and requires assistance to walk.
In a post on X, the AAP wrote, “This is the mother of Arvind Kejriwal, who recently visited Lord Shri Ram with Kejriwal. She has been ill for quite some time and needs support to walk. Today, dictator Modi is sending police to torture them in the name of interrogation. Modi ji, how low will you stoop for your dirty politics?”
AAP leader Atishi echoed Singh’s sentiments, alleging harassment of the Delhi CM’s parents and accusing the PM of orchestrating a conspiracy through the BJP. “All limits have been crossed as his (Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal) old and ailing parents have been called for questioning today,” she said. “Has the PM stooped so low that old parents are being harassed? The people of Delhi will give an answer to this through their vote. This whole thing is a conspiracy by the BJP.”
Kejriwal was released from Delhi’s Tihar Jail on May 10, 50 days after he was jailed on corruption charges linked to the alleged liquor policy scam, following a bail grant by the Supreme Court until June 1.
