Samsung is a market leader when it comes to Fold devices. They not only have the first mover advantage, but have continued making a mark with their technology when it comes to Fold devices.

I can easily say Samsung as a brand has outdone itself. With the entry of the latest Galaxy Z Fold4, Samsung high end device has kept it same yet made the experience better. Well, how have they done that let’s find out.

One thing is certain: Aspirational Indians have well adjusted with the new form factor that Samsung brought with its Fold series, that is constantly pushing the boundaries of smartphone possibilities with a larger, more immersive display that unfolds optimised mobile experiences and PC-like multitasking.

With the pre-booking phase now over, consumers in India can now buy the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 across Samsung.com and all leading online and offline retails stores.

Z Fold4 gets more screenscape giving you more productivity. The design language continues to be the same, but you do find the improvements you have been looking for.

The rear panel comes in three colors this time Greygreen, Phantom Black, and Beige, with a lovely satin finish, minimizing all possibilities of fingerprint stains. It shouts out great tech and no matter what one says you can’t take that away from the Z Fold 4.

DESIGN & DISPLAY

The design language of the device remains the same. The minor increase in dimension has brought about the real difference. On the outside, we see a 15.73-cm (6.2) Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover screen and the larger 19.21-cm (7.6) Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen. The cover screen is 2.77mm bigger making the navigation process better.

You will find the screen automatically more user friendly and can respond to email and message seem seamless from the cover screen itself.

The inner screen has always been large just gets a little bigger by 3mm making the tablet like experience more immersive. When we talk about Design the most important aspect that comes to mind is the hinge.

It has been the problem maker for the device, but I must say Samsung has worked well on this one. You can barely see the hinge only when you try hard is when you see it and even the folding action has become so much smoother than before.

Samsung has used the toughest glass on a foldable yet and it certainly feels so, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus glass.

PEFORMANCE &

SOFTWARE

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is the device when we talk about multitasking and performance. They have worked on designing the dock in more useable manner making it more friendly while multitasking.

You can slightly fold your screen and go into Split-Mode, where you can work on two or three applications simultaneously. Great platform to take meetings and even for recording for our kind of work. It’s a 120-Hz, Octa-Core, giving you a seamless working experience.

Samsung does an excellent job of integrating its key One UI features and apps into the Fold experience. Runs on Android 12 and has the One UI laid over the top.

The way the cover and inner screen are integrated is very impressive. The apps can be toggled between the screen without any wait or lag time. Apps like Word work well in the split screen feature as the bottom half becomes a keyboard.

Might not be the most effortless experience but is for sure a fun one.

CAMERA

Camera department gets 2 selfie camera and a rear camera setup, it comprises a 50.0-MP + 12.0-MP + 10.0-MP lens. The exterior cover camera is 10-MP while there’s a 4-MP hidden under-display camera inside.

Samsung claims to have brought their flagship-grade cameras to this year’s foldable. For me the picture quality of the S and Note still holds more value. Cool thing when it comes to the selfie camera the under- display camera could have been better. But then Samsung has done something super cool instead. When using the rear camera, there’s a tiny button on the top right of the screen that switches on your cover display. This way, as you have your device unfolded and the rear cameras facing you, the cover display allows you to see what you’re capturing and now you have a triple camera set up as your selfie camera,

BATTERY

The device gets a 4,400mAh battery which powers two screens. The device was used for a full day usage and the battery lasted over 14 hours. You need to charge your device at the end of the day not before. The device supports both fast wired and wireless charging.
