Congress leader Salman Khurshid on Friday stated that he was participating in the protests to “save his leaders”. He was participating in the protests by his party in the national capital against issues of inflation, price rise, GST, and unemployment.
Khurshid was asked about BJP’s target to the Congress for protests saying that these protests are a strategy to save the family and not about the price rise and inflation issues.
Khurshid said, “Why will I come to save the family? I’ll come to save my leader, my leader saves me. I have no issue if they make this a definition of family.”
In a statement, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said that the protests are purely about “Parivar Bachao”. First, they will loot the country and then save the corrupt leader. This is their reality.
Poonawalla tweeted, “This is not about the Desh Bachao but Parivar Bachao”.
Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, were detained while marching to protest against the issues. Delhi Police had imposed Section 144 in certain parts of Delhi. Paramilitary forces and the Delhi Police blocked the Vijay Chowk road and the routes from Parliament to the President’s house.
These protests come in the midst of the questioning of Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders regarding the National Herald case.
