Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal highlighted the importance of voting and encouraged everyone to take part in creating a better future for the country during the ‘Viksit Bharat’ event. On Wednesday, Nehwal kicked off the Viksit Bharat run from Delhi University’s North Campus, joined by Bollywood star Rajkummar Rao and other participants.

Nehwal underlined the value of the Viksit Bharat run in pursuing greatness and emphasised the necessity of incorporating running into daily routines for fitness. She praised the remarkable accomplishments of women in a variety of professions and stated her hope that by 2047, India would rank among the greatest countries in the world.

Encouraging citizens to exercise their voting rights, Nehwal reiterated the importance of voting for the country’s advancement. “Voting is really important, so please cast your votes to take our country to new heights,” she emphasized.

Rajkummar Rao, also present at the event, shared his sentiments on the ‘Run for Viksit Bharat’, expressing his pleasure to return to his alma mater. He echoed Nehwal’s aspirations for a developed India by 2047 and pledged his support to the initiative, aiming to create more opportunities for the younger generation.

As the brand ambassador of the Election Commission (EC), Rajkummar Rao called upon everyone to fulfill their responsibility towards the nation by exercising their right to vote during the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Approximately 5,000 Delhi University students participated in the 2.4-kilometer ‘Run for Viksit Bharat’, aligning with the goal of transforming India into a developed country by 2047. The event, jointly organized by DU and the Vikas Bharat Ambassador Club, saw students from various DU colleges participating in the marathon under the patronage of DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh.
