SAD asks Sunil Jakhar to explain how Ajayvir Lalpura had taken guarantee for an unofficial letter promising the family of Asstt Prof Dr Balwinder Kaur that the latter’s daughter would be given a governmentt job.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Sunil Jakhar to explain how Ajayvir Singh Lalpura, the son of the National Minority Commission’s chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura, had taken guarantee for an unofficial letter promising the family of Assistant Professor Dr Balwinder Kaur that the latter’s five year daughter would be given a government job after thirteen years.
Addressing a press conference here, SAD legal wing president Arshdeep Singh Kler and Youth Akali Dal president Sarabjit Singh Jhinjher said “Mr Sunil Jakhar should explain why Mr Ajaiveer Lalpura and the Ropar unit president of the BJP had taken it upon themselves to act as middlemen and seal an illegal and unofficial deal with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on behalf of the Assistant Professor’s family when he had had approached the State Governor to secure justice in the case”.
The SAD leaders said Ajayvir Lalpura batted for the unofficial assurance proffered on behalf of a field officer fully knowing that any assurance without the stamp of the State cabinet, chief minister or the State Personnel department did not carry any weight.
The leaders also asked Lalpura to tell what justice he had secured for the aggrieved family when no action had been taken on the suicide note written by Dr Balwinder Kaur, no assurance had been given to give jobs to members of the 1158 Assistant Professor and Librarian Front and no authentic job letter had been given to the daughter of the deceased.
Kler and Jhinjher also condemned the role played by AAP Ropar legislator Dinesh Chadha who also pressured the family to save the skin of the education minister.
The leaders also condemned the Ropar police for buckling under this pressure and not registering a case against Mr Harjot Bains despite a dying declaration which held the latter responsible for Dr Balwinder’s death.
They said the Ropar police had also misled the family and civil society by assuring them to nominate the minister in the case after registering a DDR but failed to do so. “This shows how the police is also acting like an agent of AAP”, the leaders added.
