The dissident Congress leader from Rajasthan, Sachin Pilot, has vowed to start a large-scale agitation in the state if his demands are not met by the end of the month. His 5-day “Jan Sangharsh Yatra” ends today, 15 May.
The Congress politician pushed for the disbanding of Rajasthan’s public service commission and its reconstitution.
Second, Pilot demanded compensation for those affected by government job exam paper leak cases.
Thirdly, Pilot sought a high-level investigation into the allegations of corruption he has made against the former BJP government. He reiterated his demand for an investigation into corruption allegations against the former chief minister, Vasundhara Raje Scindia.
“An agitation will be started throughout the state if action is not taken by this month’s end on these three demands,” the former deputy chief minister told a rally here.
“I will serve people till my last breath, nothing scares me.”
Pilot’s third demand came days after Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot claimed that Vasundhara Raje had backed him and assisted him in saving his government in 2020 when Sachin Pilot and 18 other MLAs revolted against the way their CM was conducting business.
Pilot had begun his yatra on 11 May to protest the Rajasthan government’s alleged inaction on corruption charges under the previous BJP-led Vasundhara Raje government. He has repeatedly stated that his protest march does not target any person but is against the inaction of the state government in investigating corruption.
Assembly polls are scheduled to take place in Rajasthan later this year, and the Congress would like to remain in power ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in 2024.
