A delegation of eight representatives from the Speaker’s Association And Study Circle (SAASC) at Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, showcased their diplomatic prowess at the SD Model United Nations (MUN) competition held at GGDSD College, Chandigarh, from 16th to 17th February 2024.
The SAASC delegates, hailing from diverse academic backgrounds, participated in three committees: UNGA, G20, and Lok Sabha. Throughout the two-day event, the delegates engaged in thoughtful discussions on various motions and diplomatic policies.
In the G20 committee, the representation by Avi Sinha (representing Italy), a Mechanical 2nd Year student, stood out, earning him the prestigious title of Best Delegate. Meanwhile, in the Lok Sabha committee, Pranav Dhariwal (representing Abhishek Banerjee), also a Mechanical 2nd Year student, received a Special Mention for his commendable performance.
The UNGA committee witnessed an impressive display of skills by SAASC representatives. Atinder Singh, an Electrical 1st Year student representing Cambodia, earned a High Commendation. Additionally, Rishav Rai (representing Costa Rica) from CSE 2nd Year and Jayant Jain (representing Iran) from CSE 1st Year both received Honourable Mentions, adding to the accolades garnered by SAASC.
The overall participation of SAASC in the SD MUN proved to be a resounding success, with multiple students achieving recognition and awards for their exemplary contributions. The event not only showcased the intellectual prowess of the participants but also demonstrated the commitment of SAASC to fostering diplomatic and leadership skills among the student community.
