Caleb Graves, a 33-year-old runner and social media vlogger, tragically passed away after completing the 2024 Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon. Graves collapsed near the Anaheim, California resort shortly after crossing the finish line on Sunday. Emergency responders from Anaheim Fire & Rescue quickly provided aid and rushed him to Anaheim Global Medical Center. Sadly, Graves was pronounced dead about an hour later.
Severe Heat and Health Concerns
The marathon took place during extreme heat, with temperatures soaring above 100 degrees. On the day of the race, temperatures reached 107 degrees, and Graves had shared in a TikTok video the day before that he had passed out from heat exhaustion while walking his dog. Despite his concerns, he still participated in the event.
Cardiac Arrest at the Finish Line
Sgt. Matt Sutter from the Anaheim Police Department explained that Graves was seen clutching his chest as he crossed the finish line. A worker at the marathon noticed this and immediately recognized that Graves was going into cardiac arrest. Although emergency responders acted quickly, Graves could not be saved.
Disneyland’s Heartfelt Condolences
Disneyland Resort spokesperson Jessica Good expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, saying, “We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss, and our hearts are with Caleb’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Graves was a well-known figure on TikTok with nearly 18,000 followers, where he regularly shared his love for Disneyland and theme park experiences. In his professional life, he worked as a litigation associate at the law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, representing tech companies.
A Passionate Disney Fan and Social Media Vlogger
Graves’ unexpected passing has left the Disney community and his followers in mourning. His final TikTok video, posted just a day before the race, hinted at his concerns about completing the event, making his sudden death even more heartbreaking.
