The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has urged against using the caste-based census as a political tool, emphasizing its importance for addressing the needs of lagging communities and castes.

In a press conference following the conclusion of the RSS Samanvay Baithak, Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar highlighted the sensitivity of caste-related issues and their significance for national unity and integrity. He reiterated the RSS’s earlier stance on the matter, stressing that the census should be used primarily for welfare purposes rather than electoral gains.

Ambekar pointed out that the government had already collected caste data in the past and could do so again if necessary for addressing specific needs. However, he cautioned against exploiting this information for political purposes.

In addition to the caste census issue, the RSS Samanvay Baithak also addressed the recent rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor in Kolkata. The organization outlined a five-pronged approach to tackle this disturbing incident, including legal action, social awareness, family values, educational reforms, and self-defense training.

Ambekar expressed concern about the impact of violent content in media, suggesting that it could contribute to such heinous crimes. He called for a comprehensive approach to address this issue, involving organizations and individuals at various levels.
