Robert Vadra, the spouse of Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and an entrepreneur, has indicated his interest in entering politics, citing widespread encouragement from people across the nation to contest the Lok Sabha election from Amethi. In an interview with IndiaTV, he mentioned the pressure to join politics, particularly due to his association with the Gandhi family, stating that it’s challenging to stay away from the political arena.

Vadra expressed his readiness to challenge any political leader, including the current MP Smriti Irani, from the Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized that regardless of the party he aligns with, there is a strong desire among the public to see him in politics. “The people of Amethi expect me to represent their constituency if I decide to become an MP … For years, the Gandhi family worked hard in Rae Bareli, Amethi and Sultanpur. The people of Amethi are really troubled by the current MP, they think they have made a mistake by electing her instead of Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

He criticized Irani for her alleged lack of focus on constituency development and accused her of engaging in divisive politics. Vadra’s remarks coincide with the circulation of his posters on social media, indicating growing public support for his potential political involvement. He believes that the prevailing public sentiment favors his entry into politics as the right person to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
