A case has been filed against the owner of a road construction company in Maharashtra’s Thane district following the tragic death of a 22-year-old man due to a hazardous pothole.
The district rural police have registered an offense under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. The complaint was lodged by the deceased man’s family, prompting this action against the proprietor of Jijau Construction Road Build Private Ltd.
The incident occurred on August 31 when the victim, Akash Jadhav, was riding a two-wheeler from Ambadi to Wada. He encountered a treacherous pothole, lost control, and sustained grievous injuries. Tragically, Akash Jadhav succumbed to his injuries on September 3. According to the complaint, the responsibility for the maintenance and repair of the Wada Bhiwandi road had been entrusted to the construction company. However, the firm allegedly failed to fulfill its obligations adequately, resulting in the existence of numerous potholes that have led to accidents and, regrettably, fatalities. A comprehensive investigation into the matter is currently underway.
