A 73-year-old retired soldier, Balveer Singh Chhabra, tragically died of a cardiac arrest while dancing at a yoga camp in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred on Friday during a performance in the Phooti Khoti area.
Chhabra collapsed on stage while delivering an energetic dance to a patriotic song, holding the national flag. Initially, the audience continued clapping, assuming his fall was part of the act, until organisers realised something was wrong.
Rajkumar Jain, associated with the yoga camp, described the sequence of events: “Chhabra suddenly fell unconscious and collapsed. Initially, we thought it was part of his performance, but when he did not get up for a minute, we got suspicious.”
Despite efforts to revive him with CPR and rushing him to a nearby hospital, Chhabra was declared dead after ECG and other tests. His son, Jagjit Singh, mentioned that his father had been performing patriotic dances for several years and was active in social activities. In a final act of generosity, the family donated Chhabra’s eyes and skin.
